What is IVF and how does it work?

IVF or In Vitro Fertilization is one of the more widely known types of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). IVF works by using a combination of medicines and surgical procedures to help the sperm to fertilize an egg.

What can I expect during IVF?

First, medication is given to make several eggs mature and ready for fertilization. Then the doctor takes the eggs out of your body and mixes them with sperm in a lab, to help the sperm fertilize the eggs. Then 1 or more fertilized eggs (embryos) are directly introduced into the uterus. Pregnancy happens if any of the embryos implant successfully in the lining of the uterus. There’s a 55% chance for having a baby after one cycle (month) of IVF treatment and success rates vary greatly between IVF clinics. At Garbha Gudi, our success rates stand at 66 %

Time taken for the procedure

The IVF cycle itself takes around four weeks, the length of a normal ovulation cycle. Treatment begins only after initial fertility testing which includes assessing your ovarian reserve or egg quality, uterine cavity evaluation and semen analysis. To make sure you are at your healthiest before conceiving, we recommend a medical evaluation and 90 days of preconception health and lifestyle modifications to make it easier for you to conceive.
